This book describes the boundary between Alaska and the Yukon Territory, and as you all know, this is a popular discussion in the press lately. Not so much this boundary specifically, but more so, the concept of boundaries and how they are relevant today.
This book contains a multitude of topics that we could choose to focus on, however, the information we wanted to share is the origin of the boundary and how surveying was essential in the determination of the boundary. Shown below, are the negotiations that went into determining the location of said boundary.

This book includes everything from a list of the rations used to support the survey crews as they marked out the boundary, to lengthy descriptions of the different locations where they were camped. It documents the many Indigenous people that they encountered on their multi-year trek through the wilderness that became the international boundary between Canada and the United States. This is such a fascinating book and we wish that we could share it all with you but, we only included a couple of pages that we found interesting.

We are thankful that technology has advanced to a stage where we are no longer dependent on a pack-train of horses and countless man hours to cut down the many trees by hand, that created this cut line.
